Now trying to find an opensource app I can tweak to use onyx's stylus API. I've worked through some examples of onyx's stylus API and it seems pretty easy to work with. ![]() Onyx translates their stylus events to android stylus events. Someone adds onyx stylus support to their app. Those stylus events aren't properly translated to stylus events in android API so you won't be writing in an Android app until either: The only downside is that the Nova 2 native apps are the only apps that properly support low-latency stylus. though, I'll note that if you put a screen protector on the Nova 2, then writing on it feels way worse. The writing on the Nova 2 feels more natural than writing on iPad. ![]() After using the Nova 2 for several weeks and then picking up the apple pencil a while later, the apple pencil feels really foreign and weird to use. I have both an iPad Pro (and apple pencil ) and an onyx Nova 2. Regarding questions on stylus and writing: Using some simple apps, like dictionaries, flashcard apps, maybe chat apps (FB messenger, Slack) Big plus if I can search through the pdf and jump to places I've highlighted / annotated. This includes writing notes on music chord sheets, maybe highlighting some books I'm reading. Note taking (replace sticky notes at work, personal to-do lists, take notes on sermons)Īnnotating pdfs. Has anyone looked into whether the device sends data back to Chinese servers? I guess my concern is elevated due to the uncertified Google Play status of the device. I don't need perfect, and want at least something better than writing on an iPad with a capacitive stylus like this in the pre-Apple pencil days. How good/bad is the writing experience? I've heard it's not as good as remarkable's. I read about how the Note 2 is not Google Play certified, but it seems like you can still run the Play store? Can someone give some more insight on how that works? I'm looking into the Onyx Boox Note 2 and I'm very interested. So I'm another disgruntled Remarkable2 customer that canceled his order after the delivery dates got delayed at the last minute. ![]()
